Virgil van Dijk has been offered a new contract by Liverpool, with the proposed deal extending until the summer of 2025, similar to the agreements in place for Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, according to *The Athletic*, the initial proposal did not meet van Dijk’s expectations, and negotiations over financial terms and contract length remain unresolved.
Discussions have been ongoing, reflecting the central role van Dijk and his fellow leaders play in Liverpool’s strong start to the season under new head coach Arne Slot.
Talks are also underway regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract. At 26 and a product of the club’s academy, his situation differs from those of Salah and the 33-year-old van Dijk.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid has shown interest in Alexander-Arnold, adding further uncertainty to the outcome of these negotiations.
