Liverpool is set to face Newcastle United in Premier League Gameweek 14 following a crucial 2-0 victory over Manchester City, which extended their lead at the top to nine points. Riding a seven-game winning streak, Liverpool will aim to maintain their perfect form as they travel to St. James’ Park.

Newcastle, however, has had a challenging season so far, sitting in 11th place with 19 points, significantly trailing the league leaders. With five wins, four draws, and four losses in their 13 matches, Eddie Howe’s side will be desperate to secure points at home against the formidable Reds.

Adding to their woes, striker Alexander Isak is sidelined due to an injury sustained in the recent 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Isak’s absence is a significant blow, given that he is Newcastle’s top scorer with four league goals.

Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, is also grappling with injuries to key players. Ibrahima Konaté is out until mid-January after an injury in the Champions League clash with Real Madrid. Kostas Tsimikas is unavailable after celebrating the Manchester City victory on crutches, and Conor Bradley remains sidelined after his standout Champions League performance.

Caoimhin Kelleher will continue to fill in for Alisson Becker, whose hamstring recovery has been slower than anticipated. Kelleher has been in fine form, securing five clean sheets in 10 appearances. Summer signing Federico Chiesa is also not ready to return despite resuming training, having only played 79 minutes this season. Additionally, Diogo Jota’s return remains uncertain as he continues to recover from an injury suffered in October against Chelsea.

Despite these setbacks, Liverpool will look to leverage their strong form and depth to secure another victory against a Newcastle side struggling to find consistency.
