Guardiola made the unexpected decision to bench goalkeeper Ederson, a six-time Premier League champion, but the gamble failed to pay off as City slumped to defeat.
The loss is a significant blow to Manchester City’s hopes of staying in the title race, with Liverpool pulling further ahead in the standings.
