Fans in disbelief at what Marcus Rashford did during Bodo/Glimt win as damning pitchside footage emerges

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has come under fire from fans over footage from Thursday night’s victory over Bodo/Glimt.
Ruben Amorim secured his first victory as Manchester United head coach, narrowly avoiding a major upset in the Europa League. United came from behind to defeat Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt 3-2 at Old Trafford, with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and a brace by Rasmus Højlund.
Marcus Rashford started the game on the bench but was brought on around the hour mark, replacing Mason Mount. A moment during this substitution has since gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from fans. Rashford was seen throwing his gloves to the ground instead of handing them to a member of the coaching staff standing nearby. The staff member had to bend down twice to pick up the gloves, which upset some fans.
One fan on X remarked, “Poor bloke picking his gloves off the floor when he’s stood arm’s length away. Who does he think he is?” Another added, “A lot of players do stuff like this. It’s embarrassing… no respect for a colleague.”
However, others defended Rashford, arguing the criticism was unnecessary. One supporter commented, “This might be the most nothing video ever. Anything to hate on Rashford.” Another said, “Stop trying to make something out of nothing.”
Earlier this year, Rashford addressed similar scrutiny in a piece for *The Players’ Tribune*. He claimed he is judged more harshly than other players and suggested there’s a tone to the coverage of his actions, particularly off the pitch. He wrote, “It’s got to be about my body language, questioning my morals, and speculating about my family and football future. There’s a tone in it that you don’t get with all footballers. Let’s just leave it at that.”
Rashford had a strong start under Amorim in United’s previous Premier League match, scoring after just two minutes against Ipswich. However, the team could not hold their lead and settled for a 1-1 draw.
United face Everton at Old Trafford in their next league match on Sunday, with Rashford expected to start. The Red Devils are currently 12th in the Premier League, 15 points behind leaders Liverpool after 12 games. Rashford will need to find his best form to help United push for a European spot this season.
