Real Madrid have ‘chosen’ Carlo Ancelotti’s possible replacement as manager spotted at Anfield for Liverpool defeat

Real Madrid are considering sacking Carlo Ancelotti and have already ‘chosen’ the man to replace him if he’s dismissed, according to reports in Spain.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, despite leading the club to a La Liga and Champions League double last season, finds himself under significant pressure. The team has struggled domestically, sitting four points behind league leaders Barcelona, and their Champions League campaign is in jeopardy. A 2-0 loss to Liverpool has left the defending champions in 24th place in the competition’s standings, with just six points from five matches, raising fears of an early exit.

Reports suggest Ancelotti’s position could be at risk if results don’t improve swiftly. According to Spanish journalist Roberto Morales, former Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari is a potential interim replacement. Solari, who managed the club briefly in 2018, was spotted at Anfield during Madrid’s loss to Liverpool, adding fuel to speculation. However, Morales also noted that Ancelotti’s stature and past successes might grant him time to complete the season.

If Ancelotti were to depart, Solari could step in temporarily while Madrid searches for a long-term successor. Another name strongly linked to the role is Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen. Alonso led Leverkusen to a historic unbeaten Bundesliga title last season and came close to Europa League glory, narrowly losing in the final. However, this season has been more challenging for his side, who currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga.

Reports suggest Alonso plans to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season, with Real Madrid considered his most likely destination. While nothing has been confirmed, Alonso’s ties to Madrid as a former player and his growing reputation as a coach make him a compelling candidate for the role.
