Caoimhin Kelleher has reportedly confided to friends his intention to leave Liverpool in 2025 to pursue a first-choice goalkeeper role at another club. Now 25, the Irish international has served as a dependable backup for Alisson since his Liverpool debut in 2019, accumulating 55 appearances and securing 19 clean sheets during his tenure. His consistent performances, especially when filling in during Alisson’s absences, have showcased his abilities, most recently in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa where he made pivotal saves.

Kelleher’s experience this season has reinforced his ambition to secure a starting position. After eight appearances under manager Arne Slot, he appears ready to move on, having drawn interest from clubs over the summer. Football Insider reports that Kelleher has informed friends of his decision, which could ultimately benefit both him and Liverpool.

Liverpool’s expected signing of Georgi Mamardashvili next summer aligns with Kelleher’s potential departure, allowing him to find a club where he can be the primary goalkeeper. With his contract ending in 2026, Liverpool is reportedly aiming for a transfer fee between £25 million and £30 million, with Celtic as a potential destination. The 2025 summer transfer window promises to be pivotal for Kelleher as he seeks the starting role he desires to advance his career.
