Liverpool has started the season on a positive note, but a number of injuries, particularly Diogo Jota’s, could begin to affect their on-field performance.

Ahead of their Premier League match against Aston Villa, manager Arne Slot provided an update on Jota’s recovery. He said, “We expect him to return after the international break… He should be back in the first weeks following the break.” Slot went on to explain, “In Holland, things are a bit more private regarding these matters, and I’m not entirely sure how it works here, but he should be available a week or two after the international break.”

Slot’s comments might raise concerns for fans, given Jota’s history of extended recovery times. His current rib injury, sustained during a clash with Tosin Adarabioyo against Chelsea, was initially expected to sideline him for four to six weeks. Having already missed five games, Jota could be out for as many as eight matches if he returns after the international break, which would put his recovery timeline at around six weeks—typical for an injury of this nature.

Jota’s finishing ability, particularly his instinct for scoring in front of goal, was evident in his last performance against Crystal Palace. His ability to cut inside from the left and create goal-scoring opportunities is crucial to Liverpool’s attacking play. Fans are eager for his swift return, hoping he can help maintain the team’s strong start to the season.
