Bernardo Silva drops extraordinary bombshell about Man City after collapse against Sporting and it even stunned the interviewer

Bernardo Silva has candidly summed up Manchester City’s current struggles after a shocking 4-1 Champions League loss to Sporting CP. City initially took the lead with a goal from Phil Foden and controlled much of the first half. However, in Ruben Amorim’s last home game as Sporting’s manager before his move to Manchester United, Sporting came back in explosive form, handing City their third consecutive defeat.
Sporting’s Victor Gyokeres stole the spotlight with a hat-trick, including two penalty goals, while Maximiliano Araujo scored early in the second half. City’s usually robust defense was vulnerable to Sporting’s swift counter-attacks, and a missed penalty from Erling Haaland added to their woes. The team is visibly impacted by injuries to key players like Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, making a difficult start to the season even harder after securing their historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.
This loss follows defeats to Spurs and Bournemouth, in which City struggled to dominate play. Their 26-match Champions League unbeaten streak is now broken, and Silva didn’t hold back in expressing how dire the situation feels. Speaking to TNT Sports, he admitted, “We’re in a bit of a dark place right now, and everything looks to be going in the wrong way. Even when we play well, we don’t score, and we concede too easily.”
Silva called on his teammates to examine what isn’t working, adding, “It’s difficult to find reasons for what is happening right now… I don’t remember in seven-and-a-half seasons this team losing three games in a row.” He emphasized the need for improvement and the return of injured players to change their fortunes.
Currently sixth in the Champions League standings with two wins, a draw, and a loss, City trails Premier League leaders Liverpool by two points. They’ll look to regain momentum in a challenging away game against Brighton this Saturday. After the international break, City faces a tough league schedule, hosting Spurs before a crucial away clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
