Liverpool climbed to the top of the Premier League standings with a victory over Brighton on Saturday.

Despite an early 1-0 deficit to the Seagulls, the Reds turned the game around with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

Inspired by manager Arne Slot’s halftime talk, Liverpool rallied at Anfield. With Arsenal and Manchester City both losing, this win marked a key moment in the title race.

The only setback was an injury to center-back Ibrahima Konate, who looked uncomfortable and was replaced by Joe Gomez at halftime.

Virgil van Dijk assured fans post-match that Konate’s injury appeared minor, a diagnosis later confirmed by a scan. Konate took to Instagram to say:

“Thanks for all the messages of support. My injury isn’t serious thankfully. I had a scan today and it confirmed there is no break. I’ll be ready for the next game.”

This news is a relief for Liverpool, who rely on Konate’s partnership with Van Dijk. The duo has been strong, helping Liverpool concede only six goals in ten league matches, underscoring their defensive strength.

While Gomez and Jarrel Quansah are solid backups, Liverpool values Konate’s stability and crucial role in their title pursuit.
