Liverpool suffered another injury setback as Ibrahima Konate had to exit at halftime during their clash with Brighton due to what appeared to be an arm injury. The defender, clearly in discomfort, was escorted off the pitch by two medical staff, using his shirt as an improvised sling.

Upon reaching the locker room, Konate received medical attention and initially struggled to stand before making his way slowly down the Anfield tunnel. He did not return for the second half, with Joe Gomez stepping in after a rigorous warm-up.

The injury occurred when Konate slipped and fell awkwardly while defending a Liverpool corner, cutting his appearance short. Video footage captured his pained expression, nearly in tears, as he was helped off, raising concerns for head coach Arne Slot.

This injury compounds Slot’s challenges, as key players Alisson, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa are already sidelined until after the international break. Now, Konate’s participation in the upcoming Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday is uncertain, and he will undergo scans to assess the injury.

The exact nature of Konate’s injury is still unconfirmed. The 25-year-old, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, has been a regular starter this season, missing only one Premier League game.
