“I feel the need to clarify the situation for the fans and explain why I was unwell. Contrary to reports, my illness was not a result of clubbing. Both Erik ten Hag and the club are aware of the genuine reason for my illness, which I communicated to them. It seems there is an attempt to make me a scapegoat, which I find embarrassing.” – Manchester United issues a statement addressing media reports about Marcus Rashford’s alleged clubbing incident in Belfast.

Manchester United has issued a statement in response to media reports regarding Marcus Rashford. Following reports of Rashford being seen at nightclubs in Belfast on Wednesday and Thursday, he was absent from training on Friday, citing illness. According to The Athletic, Rashford was spotted at Lavery’s Bar on Wednesday and Thompsons Garage nightclub the next day. Ahead of Sunday’s match against Newport, manager Erik ten Hag mentioned Rashford reporting ill, labeling it an internal matter.
On Monday morning, Rashford and his agent Dwaine Maynard met with football director John Murtough and Erik ten Hag at Carrington to discuss the events in Northern Ireland. In response, Manchester United released a statement on Monday evening, confirming Rashford’s return to training and availability for selection against Wolves on Thursday.
The statement acknowledged that Rashford has taken responsibility for his actions, treating the matter as an internal disciplinary issue that is now concluded.
Rashford is set to receive a fine equivalent to two weeks’ wages, estimated at £650,000, following reports of his absence from training. Various individuals, including former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer, have expressed their opinions on Rashford’s situation. Shearer emphasized the need for strong management for Rashford, urging him not to squander his talent.
Addressing the internal matter, he suggested that something might be amiss either personally or in Rashford’s relationship with the football club. Despite the ongoing concerns, Rashford is expected to be available for selection in Manchester United’s upcoming match against Wolves on Thursday evening.

He will follow Jadon Sancho. Eric ten Hag should be a father otherwise you will loose every player who opposes your point.
Sancho was a scapegoat and so is Rashford.
