Liverpool
“I agreed on personal terms to join Liverpool this summer, but the transfer is on hold until they offload TWO players first. I can’t work with those players,” Liverpool’s January target confirms the deal while imposing a SURPRISING condition.

This could have been one of the summer’s most notable transfers, generating significant buzz throughout Merseyside.
However, Liverpool’s attempts to acquire former Everton winger Anthony Gordon ultimately ended in disappointment.
The Reds had struck a £75 million deal with Newcastle, which included Joe Gomez transferring to the Magpies for £45 million.
Newcastle, however, withdrew from the agreement after addressing their Profit and Sustainability Rules by selling Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Gordon, who progressed through Everton’s academy and played a crucial role in their 2021-22 battle against relegation, initially started his career at Liverpool.
Since his £45 million transfer to Newcastle in January 2023, he has expressed his lifelong support for Liverpool.
After being overlooked by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 and struggling at the start of the current Premier League season, speculation arose regarding whether Liverpool’s interest had affected him.
However, Gordon put those rumors to rest by signing a new long-term contract with Newcastle, reaffirming his commitment to the club.
“The perception was that my slow start confirmed the speculation, but in reality, I was just unfit,” the 23-year-old stated in an interview with NUFCTV (via Newcastle World).
He explained that a tough summer spent primarily on the bench impacted him both physically and mentally.
“It took a few games for me to regain my form, but I never doubted I would improve and get fit again,” he added.
Gordon highlighted his increasing confidence and alignment with Newcastle’s approach, noting that external views are often influenced by misunderstandings.
He also mentioned that while contract negotiations were complex, he is completely committed to the club and pleased with the resolution.
