Liverpool fans are only just realising whether Giorgi Mamardashvili can be ‘recalled’ after Alisson injury

Alisson was taken off due to injury during the match against Crystal Palace, which has renewed interest in Giorgi Mamardashvili’s contract with Liverpool. The club had a low-key summer transfer window, with manager Arne Slot bringing in only two players, including Mamardashvili, who joined from Valencia for £29 million. However, he will stay with Valencia until the season ends.

Reports suggest there’s no provision for Liverpool to sign Mamardashvili in the January transfer window despite Alisson’s injury. This season, Mamardashvili has appeared in seven matches for Valencia.

In the match against Palace, Alisson had to leave the field with a suspected hamstring injury, allowing Vítezslav Jaros to make his Liverpool debut since Caoimhin Kelleher was sidelined due to illness. If Alisson’s injury proves serious, Slot may turn to Kelleher, who has played two games this season and had 26 last year. If Kelleher is also unavailable, Jaros will need to continue, having kept a clean sheet after coming on.

Despite the injury, Liverpool managed to secure a 1-0 win against Palace, continuing their strong performance with six victories in their first seven league matches.
