Only three Man Utd stars left messages on Anthony Martial’s Instagram after announcing shock transfer

Three Manchester United players were spotted commenting on Anthony Martial’s social media post after he announced his new club.

Martial initially joined United in 2015 as a teenager in a transfer reportedly worth £36 million.

Unfortunately, he struggled to maintain a consistent starting position at Old Trafford due to persistent injuries that affected his time with the Red Devils.

After the 2023/24 season ended, Martial departed Manchester as his contract expired. He made a total of 317 appearances for United across all competitions, scoring 90 goals.

Last week, it was reported that Martial had signed with Greek club AEK Athens, which offered him a contract worth £2.5 million per year.

On Friday, Martial posted a photo of himself in his new club’s colors on social media.

His Instagram post read: “New Chapter. Let’s go @aekfc_official.”

In the comments, United players Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Harry Maguire all left messages for him.

Additionally, Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan to Chelsea, also commented, along with former United players Anthony Elanga, Donny van de Beek, and Odion Ighalo. After joining AEK Athens, Martial stated: “I’m very happy. AEK was a chance for me and I want to give the best of myself to win trophies and bring joy to the fans.”

Former United teammate Morgan Schneiderlin also showed his support for Martial.

He told Monobala: “I think AEK’s style suits his game, and I’m confident he’ll have a fantastic season, scoring many goals. He will thrive in AEK’s fast-paced play. He’ll be a great asset to the team. AEK is strong, and Martial is the kind of forward who can break down tight defences and make a real difference.

“He’s someone who doesn’t talk a lot. When you first meet him, you might think he’s distant, but he enjoys laughing and is genuinely a wonderful person.”
