Reason why the 23-year-old Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte’s first game for Manchester United could be delayed again against Southampton on Saturday

Manchester United may face a dilemma in their midfield for the upcoming match against Southampton. Manuel Ugarte, signed late in the transfer window, was unable to play against Liverpool due to registration issues and could be in a similar position for the Southampton game. After playing for Uruguay in a World Cup Qualifier against Venezuela, Ugarte will have limited time to recover and train before the match. The tight turnaround and travel time might prevent him from starting.

Casemiro, who was substituted at halftime during United’s loss to Liverpool, is unlikely to feature against Southampton. This opens the door for Toby Collyer, who is gaining attention and respect at the club. Collyer could be given the opportunity to start, especially given Ugarte’s recent travel and limited preparation time.

With Ugarte’s full debut potentially delayed, Collyer may step into a more prominent role, benefiting from the chance to showcase his abilities and gain more experience.
