Liverpool
**BREAKING NEWS**: Live from Anfield, Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has expressed his concerns about the potential departure of Mohamed Salah, saying, “If he leaves, I might too, as he’s the main reason I’m still here. Klopp saw it coming, which is part of why he left. Look at the number of Africans here—he’s the only one. Losing him would be painful.” Diaz emphasized that Salah’s potential exit would be a significant blow to the club, especially as the Egyptian forward is in the final year of his 2022 contract. “It would be tough for us, and I might leave as well,” Diaz declared, stressing that losing Salah would deeply affect the Reds and urging attention to the ongoing contract situation.

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has voiced that Mohamed Salah’s potential exit would be a major setback for the team. Salah, who signed his current contract in 2022, is now in its final year. While there have been rumors about his departure this summer, Salah remains at Anfield, though talks over a contract extension have reportedly stalled. Despite the uncertainty, Salah has had a stellar start to the season, scoring in all three of Liverpool’s matches and helping them secure second place in the Premier League, just behind Manchester City on goal difference.
Diaz, who scored twice in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United, was assisted by Salah on both goals. Speaking to Telemundo, as reported by the Daily Mail, the Colombian highlighted that Salah’s departure would have a significant impact on the club:
“It would be tough for both us and Liverpool. Losing him would hurt us deeply. He still has a year left on his contract, and it’s not an easy decision to make. He consistently gives his best from the start. Losing such a key player would be very challenging for us. However, it’s his decision, and we respect that, but I hope he stays,” Diaz said.
After the match at Old Trafford, Salah hinted that it might have been his last appearance at the iconic stadium, telling Sky Sports (via the Daily Mail):
“I was thinking before the game that this might be my last time at Old Trafford. No one from the club has discussed a new contract with me yet. It’s not up to me; it’s in the club’s hands. We’ll have to wait and see.”
He continued, “As everyone knows, it’s my final year here. I want to enjoy it without getting too focused on my contract situation. Right now, I’m free to concentrate on football, and we’ll see what the future holds.”
Salah, who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017, has become one of the team’s most vital players.
**Mohamed Salah’s Record at Liverpool**
Since joining Anfield seven years ago, Mohamed Salah has had an outstanding career with Liverpool. Over 352 appearances in all competitions, he has scored an impressive 214 goals and provided 92 assists. Salah has secured every major trophy with the club, with the exception of the UEFA Europa League.
In the previous season, Salah netted 25 goals and made 14 assists in 44 matches across all competitions, marking the final year under the legendary manager Jürgen Klopp. His recent goal at Old Trafford also saw him equal Alan Shearer’s record for the most goals scored by a player in away games against a single Premier League team, with 10 goals against Leeds United.
