Footage reveals that Virgil van Dijk and André Onana were involved in an incident during Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph at Manchester United.

Liverpool enjoyed a decisive win over their rivals at Old Trafford, with Luis Diaz scoring twice and Mo Salah adding his 15th goal against United.

Following consecutive defeats to Brighton and Liverpool, Erik ten Hag’s team has dropped to 14th place in the league, having secured only three points from three matches.

The game featured several frustrating moments for United, including Casemiro’s two costly turnovers that led to goals and Marcus Rashford’s disappointing decision to pass the ball backward instead of taking a risk.

Additionally, there was a less noticeable interaction between Van Dijk and Onana that some viewers might have missed. During corners, Liverpool’s captain positioned himself closely to Onana, with Diogo Dalot trying to keep him at bay.

In response, Onana forcefully elbowed Van Dijk in the stomach. Despite having reason to be aggrieved, Van Dijk reacted in a light-hearted manner, playfully mocking Onana as if he had been hurt. The two exchanged words, but Van Dijk kept a broad smile throughout, which persisted even as Liverpool celebrated another victory under Arne Slot at the end of the match.

Van Dijk also had a heated confrontation with United’s Lisandro Martinez. Shortly after Liverpool’s opening goal, Martinez, frustrated, made a reckless challenge on Dominik Szoboszlai, earning a yellow card while Szoboszlai was still on the ground. Van Dijk then approached Martinez to confront him, despite referee Anthony Taylor’s efforts to diffuse the situation. Van Dijk appeared to challenge Martinez by saying, “Come try that with me.”
