FC Barcelona Reaches Dani Olmo Agreement With RB Leipzig, Reports Transfer Market Expert

FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, who cited anonymous sources.
“Dani Olmo to Barca, here we go! Verbal agreement in place after key mission in Leipzig for Barca [sporting] director Deco,” the Italian tweeted on Tuesday afternoon in Europe.
Romano explained that the prospective purchase entails $60 million (€55 million) in guaranteed money and a further $7.6 million (€7 million) in add-ons, which has been the “main part [that was] difficult to reach” an agreement on.
“Olmo agreed on [a] six-year deal valid until June 2030 and he wanted [the] Barca move,” Romano concluded.
Olmo has been Barca’s top transfer target this summer alongside Nico Williams, both of whom formed an integral part of Spain’s recent Euros triumph alongside Blaugrana stars Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Fermin Lopez, and Ferran Torres.
While Nico scored La Roja’s opening goal in the final against England, Olmo made a clearance off the line and helped secure a 2-1 win over the Three Lions.
Furthermore, the former La Masia academy prospect finished the tournament as its joint Golden Boot winner for the most goals netted, as Spain lifted a record fourth continental title in Germany.
That is where Olmo has been playing his club football for the past four years. Failing to graduate from La Masia, he made the bold and brave decision to turn professional in Croatia at Dinamo Zagreb.
Leipzig made him a Bundesliga star in 2020, and Olmo has been widely considered one of the best players in the German top flight since then.
Barca was linked to Olmo in other transfer windows, but it now looks finally set to bring its boy home ahead of him joining Hansi Flick’s squad for the upcoming 2024/2025 season.
As Romano touched on, Sporting Director Deco traveled to Leipzig to try and get the deal over the line and met with the player, his father Miguel, and the 26-year-old’s agents to reach an agreement.
Moving forward, Olmo will challenge the likes of Pedri and Fermin for minutes in attacking midfield but could also play on the left wing where Joao Felix and Ferran Torres failed to nail the spot down last term under Flick’s predecessor Xavi Hernandez.
