Liverpool have already lined up £26m Players replacement and could loan him out to another Premier League club

Liverpool have reportedly identified Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as their long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, according to sources in Spain. Alisson, who joined Liverpool in 2018 for £67 million from Roma, has been a cornerstone of the club’s success under former manager Jurgen Klopp. He has made 263 appearances, kept 114 clean sheets, and even scored a crucial goal against West Brom in the 2020/21 season.

Despite Alisson still having three years left on his contract, there is speculation about his future, with clubs like Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr expressing interest. Liverpool are proactively planning for the future and are reportedly set to make a €30 million (£26 million) bid for Mamardashvili, who impressed for Georgia at the recent Euros.

The plan, according to the Spanish outlet Relevo, is for Liverpool to sign Mamardashvili this summer and loan him to another Premier League club, potentially Bournemouth, for the 2024/25 season. This strategy would help him acclimatize to English football before potentially taking over from Alisson in the 2025/26 campaign.

Valencia values Mamardashvili at €35 million (£30 million) and would accept a bid close to this valuation. This move raises questions about the future of Liverpool’s current No. 2, Caoimhin Kelleher, who has expressed his desire for regular first-team football. Kelleher, who has been impressive in cup competitions, has acknowledged that he may need to leave Liverpool to achieve his goal of becoming a No. 1 goalkeeper.
