Two children were killed and nine others were injured in a “ferocious” stabbing attack in Southport, northwest England, during a Taylor Swift-themed dance event on Monday morning. The incident occurred at a dance school on Hart Street at 11:50 a.m. local time, prompting an emergency response from Merseyside Police.
A 17-year-old male from Banks, a nearby village, was later arrested in connection with the attack. Police reported that six of the injured children are in critical condition. Two adults, who attempted to defend the children, were also critically injured.
Chief Constable Serena Kennedy of Merseyside Police described the tragic event in a press conference, highlighting the bravery of the injured adults. She expressed her heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, acknowledging the unimaginable pain and suffering they are enduring.
