Slot Drops Major Hint on Alexander Isak’s Fitness Ahead of Manchester United Clash
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided a crucial update on Alexander Isak’s condition ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown against Manchester United — and fans may finally be about to see the record signing unleashed at full capacity.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference at the AXA Training Centre, Slot addressed questions regarding Isak’s readiness, confirming that the striker is now “nearing the required level” of match fitness.
“He has undergone five or six weeks of pre-season, which is standard,” Slot explained. “In terms of fitness, he is nearing the required level, and we can evaluate him fairly from this point onward.”
The Liverpool boss added that Isak’s pre-season “may have concluded now” after building up his minutes over recent games.
“He has participated in a few matches, playing 70–80 minutes,” Slot continued. “So let’s assess his current condition.”
These comments come after Isak himself sounded confident while on international duty with Sweden, declaring:
“Tomorrow I’ll be ready for 90 minutes if necessary. I’ve gained a lot more playing time, and things have settled down. I feel much better now than I did last time.”
The news will delight Liverpool supporters, who have been eager to see their £125 million forward hit full stride in red. Despite a difficult start to life at Anfield, Isak’s growing sharpness could be pivotal in what promises to be an intense contest against United.
Slot’s cautious but optimistic tone suggests that Isak could start on Sunday, though Hugo Ekitike also remains in contention. Behind them, Florian Wirtz continues to impress, giving Liverpool a dynamic attacking foundation as the club’s new system begins to take shape.
With Isak now close to full fitness, Liverpool’s attack may finally be ready to fire on all cylinders — just in time for one of the season’s biggest fixtures.
