There has been: Alexander Isak has just revealed something that Liverpool supporters may not want to hear.

Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool was among the most discussed topics of the summer transfer window.

There were numerous instances during the window when it seemed unlikely that the striker would become a player for Arne Slot.

Ultimately, a £125 million offer was sufficient to secure a transfer and bring one of the Premier League’s top strikers to Anfield.

Even though the season is still in its early stages, it appears that Isak should be contributing more, as the Sweden international is currently having less of an impact on the team compared to Hugo Ekitike.

While Isak has been away on international duty with Sweden, he has made a statement that Liverpool fans might find unappealing.

Alexander Isak has acknowledged that his footballing skills have declined since joining Liverpool.

One of the primary concerns regarding Isak’s transfer was whether he would be fit enough to play regularly after he opted not to participate in pre-season with Newcastle.

Unsurprisingly, the answer to that question was no.

This not only hindered his ability to acclimate to his teammates and their playing style but also placed Liverpool at a disadvantage, as they lack their complete first-team squad to select from.

Now, following Sweden’s 1-0 defeat to Kosovo on Monday evening, Isak has confessed that his footballing ability has deteriorated since joining Liverpool.

“There has been a negative development [for myself] now, at least during the spring and since the World Cup qualifiers began,” he told Dagens Nyheter.

“There has been no progress, and it’s disappointing.”

Alexander Isak must demonstrate to Liverpool fans that he was worth the £125 million investment made in him.

Isak has faced scrutiny from fans and the media, even before his move to Liverpool.

The Sweden international was one of the Premier League’s top strikers last season, and it was evident that Newcastle was reluctant to part ways with him.

Although he eventually secured his transfer, the manner in which he approached it could have been improved.

Currently, it remains uncertain whether Isak’s transfer will yield the desired results, as many had anticipated. However, with less than 10 matches played in the Premier League season, there is still ample opportunity for circumstances to change.

On the other hand, if things do not improve, it could result in a £125 million error for the Reds.

This scenario would be far from ideal, and it is clear that Isak will be eager to prove his critics wrong and return to peak form as quickly as possible.
