Real Madrid: Rodrygo breaks silence on his aborted transfer to Barça
The story could have taken a completely different turn for Rodrygo.
Arriving at Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 for 45 million euros, the Brazilian winger almost joined Merengues’ great rival, FC Barcelona, while he was still playing for Santos. Currently in Seoul with the Seleção, the 24-year-old returned to this last-minute turnaround in an interview with Diario AS.
“Before signing for Real Madrid, everything was already concluded and I had signed for Barça. It’s true. But my father explained to us that Real Madrid had contacted us and that I had to choose. For me it was very clear. I knew what I wanted and what my dream was. I didn’t even hesitate. And here I am, he confided.
In difficulty at Real Madrid, could Rodrygo one day leave his favorite club to get more playing time? This summer, the Brazilian press had already mentioned Barça’s interest in following it closely.
