Ruben Amorim ‘Allowed’ To Break Strict Rule During Man Utd vs Chelsea

Ruben Amorim was seemingly allowed to break a strict Premier League rule in Manchester United’s big win over Chelsea.
Man United beat Chelsea 2-1 in an action-packed fixture on Saturday.
In the opening stages, Chelsea were reduced to 10 men when Robert Sanchez was sent off for denying Bryan Mbeumo a goalscoring opportunity.
Moments later, Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring as he poked past Filip Jorgensen from close range.
Casemiro doubled his side’s lead before being shown a second yellow card in first-half stoppage time.
In the second-half, Trevoh Chalobah reduced the deficit after heading home 10 minutes from time.
It’s a big win for Ruben Amorim, who has been under mounting pressure following his side’s underwhelming start to the new season.
And in his team’s second league win of the season, Amorim was ‘allowed’ to break a Premier League rule.
Saturday’s fixture at Old Trafford was played out in dreadful conditions amid torrential rainfall in Manchester.
The pitch was full of water, including Amorim’s technical area, which was almost completely submerged.
The Portuguese could be seen prowling the touchline beyond his technical area and was practically on the pitch.
While Enzo Maresca remained in his technical area, Amorim was, at times, positioned ahead of his counterpart as he gave out instructions from the touchline.
Managers in the Premier League are often warned if they leave their technical area, but the rule appeared to be waived for the Red Devils boss given the heavy rainfall.
Speaking after Man United’s victory over Chelsea, Amorim said: “We started the game really well, really aggressive. We were so aggressive in the second balls. We had the sending off with Casemiro, we like to complicate our game always but it was a good day.
“I felt the urgency, of course the sending off helped us. We had to be more clinical to finish the game off sooner.”
Man United climb into the top half of the table, with seven points on the board.
They resume their league campaign next Saturday against Brentford.
