Jamie Carragher Calls Out Liverpool Star After ‘Ridiculous’ Incident vs Burnley

Jamie Carragher was left furious with one Liverpool player over what he described as an ‘absolutely ridiculous’ incident in the first half against Burnley.
Arne Slot’s side are taking on the Clarets at Turf Moor in their fourth Premier League match of the season.
Liverpool dominated the opening half hour of proceedings in terms of ball possession, but couldn’t find a way to test Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
But the biggest flashpoint of the opening stages occurred when left-back Milos Kerkez went to ground inside Burnley’s area.
The referee waved away the Hungarian defender’s protests after he claimed he had been brought down by Josh Laurent.
There was minimal contact, and Kerkez was booked for simulation.
And Carragher, on co-commentary for Sky Sports, was in no doubt over his feelings about the incident.
“It was a dive, there’s absolutely no doubt about that,” he said. “I don’t think anybody in the stadium thought it wasn’t.
“It was so theatrical. I mean, it’s absolutely stupid that. I don’t think there’s any contact whatsoever really.
“He’s in a good position. I think he can probably swing his foot around that and get a cross in. He’s in a really good position, right on the byline.”
Kerkez would subsequently be taken off by manager Slot on 37 minutes, in a straight swap with Andy Robertson.
The 21-year-old had earlier committed a foul on the halfway line but escaped a second booking.
Carragher commented: “I think it’s really good management from Arne Slot. It was absolutely ridiculous what he did in the first half, with the yellow card and trying to get a penalty. And then he has the foul on the halfway line – I think the manager’s talking [to him] about that.
“This game is going to be about counter attack, if he gets caught 1v1 and something happens, second yellow and he’s off.”
