Breaking News: Alexander Isak continues to “fight” for a transfer to Liverpool, as he is actively “pushing” for the move – Romano
In a thrilling Premier League match at Anfield, Liverpool narrowly defeated Newcastle United 3-2, with a dramatic winner from teenager Rio Ngumoha in the 100th minute.
Ryan Gravenberch initiated the scoring with a precise long-range shot in the first half.
New signing Hugo Ekitike, who joined for £79 million from Eintracht Frankfurt, netted his third goal in as many games for Liverpool with a skillful first-time finish, extending the lead to 2-0 shortly after the break.
He scored so quickly after the restart that Arne Slot had not yet entered the match.
Newcastle United managed to score twice, including a goal in the 87th minute, putting pressure on Liverpool’s perfect start to the season.
However, 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha secured the victory with a goal in the 100th minute, marking his emergence as a promising talent.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, a battle for Alexander Isak’s services continues.
Isak has met with Newcastle, but his ambition remains to join Liverpool, and he is still “fighting” to make that happen, as he is “pushing” for the transfer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, it seems that the meeting between PIF, Newcastle, and Alexander Isak did not yield the desired results, as he still plans to move to Liverpool.
On Monday, prior to the match at St. James’ Park, reports indicated that Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben and a PIF delegation met with Isak at his residence in an effort to persuade him to remain in Tyneside.
The Daily Mail reported: “The club desires the Swedish striker to return to training and play for the Magpies after he went on strike to facilitate a transfer to Liverpool.
It is understood that a new contract would be part of the discussions if Isak commits to the club this season.”
They aimed to entice him with the prospect of a lucrative new contract, but since the promise of a new deal has already been made and broken, it is no surprise that he is not keen on negotiating a new agreement.
Newcastle is currently unwilling to sell Isak due to the existing circumstances. Until they make some sales, it will be challenging for Liverpool to push a deal through.
However, Romano has already indicated that Liverpool intends to “attack” with a bid this week.
