Embarrassing’ – Amorim Told to Add Man Utd Ace to ‘Bomb Squad’ After Fulham Disaster

After a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the opening weekend of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, Manchester United responded with an uninspiring 1-1 draw against Fulham – and the Old Trafford outfit have singled one player out for criticism, suggesting that he should be added to the ‘bomb squad’.
Playing with real verve in the opening 30 minutes or so, Bruno Fernandes’ missed penalty unnerved the visitors somewhat, but Ruben Amorim’s men did score the opener on the stroke of the hour mark courtesy of Leny Yoro’s header in the box.
Fulham’s Emile Smith Rowe, with his first touch of the ball, levelled proceedings just four minutes later – and all in all, it was a poor display, especially throughout the second half, from a team that were keen to win their first game of the campaign.

As a means of keeping things fresh – and, perhaps, more defensively resolute – Diogo Dalot replaced Amad eight minutes after the break. Summer addition Benjamin Sesko, as a replacement for midfielder Casemiro, also entered the fray at the same juncture.
Amorim – widely regarded as one of the best young managers in world football – and his entourage made a whole host of changes in the second half as they looked to secure their first three-point haul of the new campaign, but personnel changes were to no avail.
And that was not thanks to the performance of Dalot, who occupied the right-wing back berth once he replaced Amad. The latter obviously provides Amorim’s men with more of an attacking threat down the right-hand side but Dalot was introduced to sure things up at the back.

Not least for Smith Rowe’s equaliser for the hosts, the Portuguese defender dangerously turned into trouble once he received the ball from Patrick Dorgu’s clearance, which allowed the hosts to bear down on Altay Bayindir’s goal and, subsequently, score. He wasn’t the only player to blame – but his lackadaisical approach was costly.
Throughout his cameo, the 26-year-old took 24 touches – four of which were in Fulham’s penalty box – and played the solitary pass into the final third. From a defensive standpoint, Dalot looked shaky and often put his teammates under pressure, while he was also unable to add prowess in the final third in the wing-back role.
Watch Dalot’s part to play in Fulham’s equaliser below:
The Manchester United supporters – who were keen for Amorim’s men to attack in the game’s final stages – have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to suggest that Dalot wasn’t up to scratch. One said: “Dalot has been half asleep since he came on.”
“Nobody could ever gaslight me into thinking Dalot is good. Absolutely useless.”
“Dalot couldn’t control a simple ball straight at him and then Fulham equalise. I have no words,” another added before a third fan said. “Dalot, that was embarrassing to watch.” Short and simply, a final supporter said: “Add Dalot to the bomb squad.”
