Close to finalising’ – Alexander Isak’s agent indicates that a deal with Liverpool is imminent.

Alexander Isak’s representative has nearly confirmed that his client is on the verge of making a record-setting transfer to Liverpool.

Liverpool’s initial offer for Isak was rejected last week, but they are now believed to be preparing a revised and enhanced second bid for the Newcastle forward.

Isak has expressed his desire to leave Newcastle this summer to join the English champions.

The 25-year-old is reported to have reached a preliminary agreement with Liverpool regarding personal terms and has requested Newcastle to facilitate his departure.

What comments did Isak’s agent make?

Gonzalo Gaitan, Isak’s agent, seems to have confirmed that a transfer to Liverpool is imminent.

He stated to Saudi Arabian media outlet Arriyadiyah through The Daily Express: “We are currently evaluating and considering all options, and we may be nearing the finalization of the next step for the player.”

Meanwhile, GMS reported on Tuesday that Benjamin Sesko’s anticipated transfer to Newcastle will facilitate Isak’s move to Liverpool.

Isak is eager to leave Newcastle after being influenced by Liverpool’s interest, and the Reds made their first official offer on Friday.

However, Newcastle rejected this bid, maintaining their public position that he is not available for transfer.

The precise amount of the bid has been debated, but it is thought to be around €126 million, with an additional €11 million in potential bonuses.

Newcastle is reportedly asking for as much as €172 million to part with the player.

Such an offer would break the current British transfer record of €136 million that Liverpool paid for Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.

Isak has requested to leave Newcastle, as contract renewal discussions have fallen through, with the club unwilling to meet his wage demands of €350,000 per week.

The Swedish player is also dissatisfied with Newcastle’s lack of ambition in the transfer market.

To accommodate Isak, Liverpool has started to offload several players.

Luis Diaz has finalized his €75m transfer to Bayern Munich, Darwin Nunez is available for sale and is expected to generate over €50m, while Italy’s Federico Chiesa is likely to be sold for approximately €12-15m – probably to a Serie A club.

Liverpool is also aiming to sell Harvey Elliott for a reasonable price.

The Reds have already made significant investments this summer, exceeding €300m.

Isak has risen to prominence as one of the top strikers in European football in recent seasons.

He transferred to Newcastle from Real Sociedad for €73m in 2022.

The 25-year-old has since netted 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle.
