Liverpool agree personal terms to sign “world-class” star, he’s Salah 2.0 –

Sky Sports: Liverpool have reached an agreement on personal terms to acquire a “world-class” player, who is being referred to as Salah 2.0 – Report
Liverpool clinched the Premier League title last season. Is it possible for them to replicate that success in Arne Slot’s second year?
Despite being considered underdogs last year, following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, the Reds have thrived under Slot’s leadership.
The significant changes implemented over the past two months during the summer transfer window have altered how rivals perceive the Anfield club.
Now, the champions are poised for another challenge, with Mohamed Salah receiving additional attacking support to accompany him in the final third. Enter Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
However, there may be more signings on the way.
Liverpool preparing for another acquisition.
Luis Diaz is on the verge of completing his transfer to Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga champions reportedly agreeing to a £65.5m fee with Liverpool.
If the transfer is finalized (and it appears likely), Liverpool will need to find a replacement, particularly as Darwin Nunez is also set to embark on a new journey this summer.
According to Sky Sports Switzerland, Liverpool has officially submitted their bid for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak this week, having reached an agreement on personal terms with the Swedish forward.
Fabrizio Romano has previously indicated that Liverpool intends to push forward with their offer for Isak, who has expressed a desire to join Anfield, following the sale of Diaz.
Newcastle may be forced to sell, albeit reluctantly, but only if their asking price, estimated at around £130m, is met.
Reasons behind Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak.
Over three seasons in England with Newcastle, the 25-year-old Isak has proven himself to be among the elite, with analyst Raj Chohan even labeling him as “the best striker in the world” for his performances during the 2024/25 season.
Isak netted 27 goals in all competitions, yet he is far more than merely a goalscorer.
According to FBref, he was also in the top 16% of forwards across Europe last season for shot-creating actions, the top 13% for progressive passes, and the top 7% for progressive carries per 90 minutes.
He is an outstanding striker, but more significantly, he is an exceptional player. In this regard, the £120k-per-week Isak possesses the qualities necessary to emerge as Liverpool’s new talisman, having already been labeled a “world-class” player by pundit Alan Shearer.
Even though he signed a new two-year contract in April, Salah is now 33 and will not be able to sustain his current performance level indefinitely.
At times during the last season, it seemed as though Salah single-handedly propelled Liverpool to the Premier League title, remarkably achieving 57 goal contributions across all competitions.
Isak possesses that star quality that could enable him to take up the proverbial torch and drive Liverpool forward into the next era.
While Isak may not be the direct successor to Salah’s position, the buzz surrounding him suggests that Merseyside fans have every reason to feel excited, as they have a potential superstar in their sights.
After spending three years establishing himself in the English top tier, Newcastle’s key forward is now poised to take the next step in his career and join Slot’s squad.
And while fans may look forward to a partnership between Isak and Salah—should the striker indeed sign this summer—for the next two seasons, Slot might discover that he has found his new version of the Egyptian King in this lethal number nine.
