Manchester United are likely to sign a marquee striker during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have had a relatively good summer with a couple of high-profile acquisitions.

They have already signed Matheus Cunha, while Bryan Mbeumo is expected to join from Brentford.

An elite centre-forward could be prioritised next, and Foot Mercato claim that United have entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman had a good loan stint with Juventus during the back end of last season. The Bianconeri are hoping to convince him to prolong his stay with them.

Amidst this, United have joined the pursuit. They have initiated contact with the striker, who signed for Paris Saint-Germain in a £76.4 million deal from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023.

Kolo Muani would be a good acquisition

The 26-year-old was mentioned as a potential winter target for the Red Devils, but he eventually joined Juventus on loan. He managed 13 goal contributions from 22 appearances for them.

The Turin giants are open to retaining his services, but United could provide stiff competition. In our view, the Red Devils could explore a loan deal for Muani with an option to buy next summer.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt man is a modern number nine. He likes to keep himself busy with his clever movements. He is also very mobile and can drop into deeper positions to link up play.

Muani had a brilliant shot-to-goal conversion rate of 31 percent in Serie A last term. A loan deal with a buy clause would help United in assessing whether he can adapt to the higher intensity and physicality of the Premier League.

A number of Ligue 1-based forwards have struggled to make a meaningful impact in the past.

Muani, described as ‘ice-cold’ by Germany legend Lothar Matthaus, should be tempted to join the Red Devils provided he is assured a regular starting role in the league next season.
