The final conversation between Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother, moments before their tragic car accident, has emerged online, leaving football fans as whole worldwide in deep shock.

The football community is reeling from the tragic loss of Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota, who died alongside his brother André Silva in a horrific car accident on July 3, 2025, in Zamora, Spain.
The 28-year-old forward, who had just married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso on June 22, was traveling in a Lamborghini on the A-52 highway when the vehicle veered off the road and burst into flames, killing both brothers instantly, according to Spanish outlet Marca and Zamora24horas.
Now, a heart-wrenching report has surfaced detailing the final conversation between Diogo and André, shared via a leaked audio clip circulating on social media, plunging fans worldwide into profound grief.
The audio, reportedly recorded moments before the crash, captures a lighthearted exchange between the brothers as they discussed Diogo’s recent wedding and André’s upcoming season with Penafiel, a Portuguese second-tier club.
Diogo, in high spirits, teased André about his new haircut, saying, “Mate, you’re looking sharp for training—trying to impress the gaffer?” André laughed, responding, “Says the guy who’s still glowing from his wedding!” The conversation, described by sources close to the family as typical of their close bond, turned briefly to plans for a family holiday in Portugal, with Diogo expressing excitement about bringing his three young children to the beach.
Tragically, the audio cuts off abruptly, moments before the fatal crash at 12:30 am near Palacios de Sanabria, per the Spanish Civil Guard.
The accident, attributed to a possible tire blowout while overtaking, as reported by The Standard, has left the football world in mourning.
Liverpool issued a statement: “We are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, André.”
The Portuguese Football Federation called the deaths an “irreparable loss,” noting Diogo’s 49 caps and 14 goals for Portugal, including their recent Nations League triumph.
Tributes have poured in, with Gary Neville posting on X, “Heartbreaking news on Diogo Jota and his brother. All my love to his family,” and Jamie Carragher emphasizing the loss to Jota’s wife and children.
Jota, who joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 for £41 million, scored 65 goals in 182 appearances, including nine in the 2024/25 Premier League-winning season. André, 26, was a rising star at Penafiel, with the brothers’ shared passion for football deepening their bond.
Fans have flooded Anfield with flowers, and UEFA has confirmed a minute’s silence before Portugal’s Women’s Euro 2025 match. Social media is awash with grief, with @LFC4Ever pleading, “Retire No. 20 for Diogo,” and @FootyFanatic noting, “Losing both brothers is unimaginable.” The tragedy, coming just 11 days after Jota’s wedding, underscores the fragility of life, leaving Liverpool, Portugal, and football fans worldwide heartbroken.
