Medical Completed: £99m striker has completed his medical to join Manchester United after agreeing five-years transfer deal to join the Reds

Manchester United are the frontrunners to sign Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo, despite Tottenham Hotspur discussing signing him internally, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.
Mbeumo’s future has been a key topic of discussion over the summer, further enhanced by Thomas Frank being appointed at Tottenham. The Cameroonian forward was a crucial player for the Bees under Frank, and there’s no doubt the Danish manager would be keen to link up with him once again.
United have shown an interest in securing Mbeumo’s signature, and it’s no surprise considering the impressive performances he’s produced in recent years. Mbeumo would undoubtedly be an impressive signing for both Tottenham and Manchester United, but it appears that one of them is leading the race as it stands.
Fabrizio Romano: Mbeumo Update Amid Man Utd and Tottenham Links
Man Utd leading the race over Tottenham Speaking on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast, Romano has confirmed that Tottenham do have an appreciation for Mbeumo and held internal talks over potentially signing him.
“For sure, there is appreciation from Thomas Frank. And so it’s quite obvious to discuss a target like Mbeumo for Tottenham, because he’s one of the names they discussed internally as soon as he [Frank] signed his contract as new Tottenham manager.”
Despite Tottenham’s interest, it is Manchester United who are the frontrunners for securing his signature, holding regular talks with Brentford over a potential move.
“So it’s obvious in football to see these kind of situations, but my understanding is that Manchester United remain, at the moment, in control of the situation, in conversation with Brentford, the club-to-club talking almost on daily basis, trying to find a solution. We know with these clubs like Brentford, Brighton is always difficult to negotiate for their top players, so it’s not easy to reach an agreement, but United are on that.
They are talking to the club, always in contact with player agents, and with an agreement with Bryan Mbeumo, because the player wants to go to United. And so at the moment, United remain frontrunners on this story. Let’s see if they can be able to reach an agreement on the fee with Brentford.”
Despite United being the frontrunners, the Manchester club will be desperate to get a deal over the line to avoid any other clubs entering the race. Although Mbeumo does want to join the club, further parties showing an interest could complicate a move.
In Ruben Amorim’s system, Mbeumo could be deployed in one of the attacking midfield roles behind the striker, while he’s also comfortable playing under Frank and the style he will want to implement at Tottenham.
