La Liga have finally announced a harsh ban for Antonio Rüdiger for misbehaving with the referee after full time against Barcelona in the Copa De Ray final

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger is facing a substantial suspension following his red card in the Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona. The incident in question occurred when Rudiger’s composure snapped on the touchline after Barcelona scored the winning goal, prompting a heated altercation with the referee.
In the intensity of the moment, Rudiger threw an object in the referee’s direction, resulting in a red card and a potential suspension spanning four to twelve matches. While the incident has sparked widespread criticism, Rudiger has since issued a sincere apology for his actions.
Through a social media statement, Rudiger expressed his regret to both the referee and Real Madrid supporters, acknowledging that his behavior was inexcusable. He candidly admitted to being disappointed in himself and recognizing that there was no justification for his actions.
Rudiger also reflected on the match, commending his team’s performance from the second half onwards. However, he acknowledged that physical discomfort had rendered him unable to contribute to his team’s cause in the final minutes of the game.
The defender’s apology follows a dramatic night for Real Madrid, who were denied a potential penalty claim in the 90th minute. Rudiger’s red card and potential suspension will undoubtedly have significant implications for Real Madrid’s forthcoming fixtures, underscoring the importance of discipline and composure in high-stakes matches.
“There’s definitely no excuse for my behaviour last night. I’m very sorry for that,” Rudiger wrote on Instagram.
“We played a very good game from the 2nd half on – After 111 minutes I was not able to help my team anymore and before the final whistle I did a mistake,” he added.
“Sorry again to the referee and to everyone I have disappointed last night,” he concluded.
