SURPRISING DEVELOPMENT: An admonition for the Manchester United player valued at £85 million, Erik ten Hag asserts, “He needs to demonstrate his worth.”

Following a series of underwhelming performances during his tenure at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has issued a stern warning to Brazilian winger Antony, emphasizing the need for him to “prove” himself.
Despite his high-profile transfer from Ajax to Manchester United at the start of the previous season, the 24-year-old player has struggled to meet the elevated expectations placed upon him, finding it challenging to secure a consistent starting position in the team. Antony’s lack of starts in the Premier League since December has raised questions about his future role in the club.
Ten Hag, who initially saw Antony as a key solution to the team’s attacking issues, now emphasizes the importance of the Brazilian winger showcasing his true potential through on-field performance. Acknowledging Antony’s talent, the Dutch manager asserts that the player needs to demonstrate his abilities and fulfill the promises he made.
“He is required to demonstrate that he is capable of doing what he says he will do. Additionally, he possesses a great deal of potential. In recent times, he has not demonstrated his gift; nonetheless, I am aware of his abilities, and it is about demonstrating his abilities, as well as about him,” stated Ten Hag in an interview with the Daily Mail.
As Antony faces increased competition for his position, with emerging talents like Amad Diallo making progress in training after a period of absence, Ten Hag’s warning comes at a crucial juncture. The manager has signaled that Antony will have to prove his worth amid growing competition within the squad.
In the recent match against Fulham, another promising young player in the offensive department, Omari Forson, made his debut in the starting lineup, adding further competition for places in the attacking unit.
