Liverpool fans slam ‘arrogant’ PSG star after hearing what he’s just said about Anfield

Liverpool supporters have criticized an ‘arrogant’ PSG player following his remarks after the Reds’ 1-0 victory in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool secured a surprising 1-0 win in the French capital, with Harvey Elliott’s late goal being the only shot on target from Arne Slot’s team throughout the match.

To provide context, PSG had 27 shots, ten of which were on target.

The Premier League leaders will look to defend their lead and possibly extend it during the second leg at Anfield on Tuesday, March 11.

Anfield, on Champions League nights, is known to become a fortress, creating a hostile atmosphere that often acts as a boost for the team – a fact famously demonstrated when Liverpool overturned Barcelona’s 3-0 first-leg lead with a 4-0 win in the 2019 semi-finals.

Despite this, PSG midfielder Vitinha, 25, remains optimistic about his team’s prospects.

Vitinha spoke to Canal+ about the game, stating: “[It was] tough. Everyone saw it. Football is like that, it’s hard to play a game like that, against a team like that. Their only shot, I don’t know… It’s tough, but now we’re going to show what kind of team we are. It’s been a long time since we lost, it’s up to us to show our personality and our strength. We’re going to go there, we’re going to play a great game, we’re going to score, and we’re going to go through, I’m sure of it.”

PSG fans may appreciate their player’s confidence, but Liverpool supporters were not pleased with the comments.

One fan remarked: “The arrogance is getting too much now because you had a couple of possessions and shots on target. I promise you the best you will get at Anfield is a draw.”

Another fan added: “Come and win at Anfield, let’s see.”

A third comment read: “Win at Anfield? Haaa, keep on dreaming.”

A fourth fan criticized: “Liverpool will be a different beast at Anfield. The arrogance has been heard a million times by players like Vitinha.”
