Mason Greenwood is considering a change in his international allegiance ahead of Euro 2024 after receiving an enticing offer. Once hailed as one of England’s brightest young prospects, Greenwood encountered a setback when he was suspended by Manchester United amid allegations of attempted rape, assault, and controlling behavior.

However, in February 2023, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges against him, leading to his reinstatement at United following an internal investigation. Currently plying his trade on loan at LaLiga outfit Getafe, Greenwood has been making significant strides in Spain, reigniting his ambitions for international football.

Despite not representing England since his senior debut in August 2020, Greenwood is contemplating switching his allegiance to Jamaica, a move facilitated by his father’s nationality and FIFA regulations.

FIFA permits players to switch national teams under specific circumstances, such as holding the nationality of the new association at the time of their first official appearance for their previous national team, participating in a limited number of competitive senior matches before turning 21, and observing a three-year hiatus since their last senior appearance for the previous national team.

Despite reportedly rebuffing Jamaica’s advances last year, Greenwood maintains eligibility to represent them if he so chooses.
