“He caused Erik ten Hag’s departure, and he will get you fired too. He’s a ticking time bomb, ready to blow at any moment. He ruined Erik ten Hag’s career, and he could do the same to yours. Keep playing him, and you’ll be out before the season ends,” said Manchester United icon and Fenerbahçe coach, delivering a stern warning to Manchester United’s manager after their 1-0 away loss to Tottenham.

“Jamie Carragher Criticizes Jadon Sancho for Defensive Blunder in Chelsea’s Calamitous Loss”

Jadon Sancho delivered a forgettable performance in Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Brighton on February 16, 2025. The Manchester United winger, currently on loan at Chelsea, was substituted in early due to an injury to Noni Madueke but failed to make any noticeable impact. Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher was particularly critical of Sancho’s lack of defensive involvement during the match.

Chelsea struggled throughout, failing to register a single shot on target. What seemed to frustrate Carragher the most was Sancho’s lack of effort in tracking back when Brighton scored their third goal. With Chelsea already down 2-0, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh made a run into the penalty area, but Sancho, who was supposed to cover him, failed to do so. Minteh easily passed Sancho and scored, essentially sealing Chelsea’s embarrassing defeat.

Carragher, visibly frustrated, pointed out Sancho’s lack of intensity in defending and his inability to stay with Minteh. He expressed his dissatisfaction on air, saying, “Just look at Sancho with Minteh at the top of your screen, the one-two, and just watch Sancho. Where’s he going?! The intensity from Cucurella and Sancho on that side was awful. This is a bad, bad night for Enzo Maresca and Chelsea.” Carragher’s comments echoed the disappointment shared by many Chelsea and football fans alike.

After Carragher’s strong criticism, social media erupted with Chelsea supporters, and even Manchester United fans, voicing their displeasure with Sancho’s performance. Many United fans recalled similar letdowns during his time at Old Trafford. One fan commented, “Carragher holds nothing back! Is this déjà vu for Sancho?” Another fan pointed out that Sancho’s failure to track Minteh directly led to the third goal, writing, “He’s completely disappeared, lost his man, and that man made it 3-0.”

To intensify the drama, some fans referred to Sancho’s recent social media post, where he had written “Freedom” following his former teammate Marcus Rashford’s move to Aston Villa. Some interpreted this as a veiled criticism of his time at Old Trafford, suggesting that Sancho felt confined at the club. However, performances like the one against Brighton have only heightened the doubts surrounding his future.

If Sancho is serious about revitalizing his career, many, including Carragher and the fans, believe he must show much greater dedication and commitment on the field. Without it, his future at Chelsea, and possibly elsewhere, could be in jeopardy.
