The match was further impacted by an injury to Manchester United’s central defender, Lisandro Martínez. During the second half, Martínez suffered a severe knee injury and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
After the match, Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes spoke to the media about Martínez’s injury. He said, “Lisandro is a warrior, and to see him go down like that is hard for all of us. We don’t know the full extent yet, but it looks serious. We just hope it’s not as bad as it seems.”
Fernandes highlighted how Martínez’s injury affected the team’s morale, stating, “He’s been a rock for us at the back. Losing him is a big blow, but we have to stay strong and support him through this.”
Martínez’s injury adds to Manchester United’s defensive concerns, especially given their recent struggles in the Premier League. This loss, which is their 11th of the season, also marks their first defeat in four games.
Manager Ruben Amorim recognized the team’s defensive weaknesses, commenting, “We need to address these issues quickly. Injuries like Lisandro’s are part of the game, but we must find ways to cope and improve.”
At this moment, the club has not issued an official update on the severity of Martínez’s injury or the expected recovery time. Further evaluations are expected in the coming days.
