BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano has confirmed fantastic news for Liverpool fans this evening.

Liverpool might look into acquiring a new centre-forward in the upcoming months, though much of that will hinge on Darwin Núñez’s performance during the second half of the season.

Despite reports suggesting genuine interest from Saudi clubs in the Uruguayan striker, Liverpool is not planning to sell him during this transfer window. This decision makes sense, considering the challenges of securing an upgrade mid-season.

Former Liverpool Target Evan Ferguson Back in the Spotlight

Rumors about potential striker additions will likely arise, and it’s only a matter of time before Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is once again linked with the Reds. Fabrizio Romano recently mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that the Republic of Ireland international is “expected to leave” Brighton on loan this January, reigniting discussions about his future.

Ferguson, who was previously on Liverpool’s radar in 2023, has seen his form dip significantly since Fabian Hürzeler became Brighton’s manager in the summer of 2024. The 20-year-old has found it difficult to secure game time this season, accumulating just 373 minutes across all competitions and netting only one goal. This is in sharp contrast to his 2023/24 season, where he contributed to seven goals in 1,721 minutes.

The young forward’s lack of minutes and goals this season has raised concerns about his development, but a successful loan move could help him regain his form and possibly revive his Premier League career.

Could Ferguson Still Be an Option for Liverpool?

For Liverpool to view Ferguson as a genuine summer target, his potential loan spell would need to be highly successful, either domestically or in Europe. Sporting director Richard Hughes is likely to monitor his progress, though it would take a remarkable turnaround for Ferguson to reappear on Liverpool’s radar.

That said, football often brings unexpected twists, and stranger events have occurred. For now, Liverpool’s focus remains on Darwin Núñez and his ability to perform in the remainder of the season, but the prospect of new attacking additions in the future can’t be completely dismissed.
