Ruben Amorim has dropped another player from his matchday squad for Wolves game and he isn’t injured

Since taking charge in November, Rúben Amorim has shown a willingness to make bold decisions regarding Manchester United’s squad selection. Marcus Rashford has been omitted from the last four matches, including the Wolves clash, following his statement about being ready for a new challenge. Alejandro Garnacho was also left out of the Manchester derby, sparking debate about his training application and commitment.
Addressing his decision to drop Rashford and Garnacho for the City game, Amorim underlined the necessity of maintaining high standards at “one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Now, another United player, Tyrell Malacia, has been dropped for a Premier League fixture. Reports confirm his absence against Wolves is unrelated to injury. Malacia, who joined United from Feyenoord in 2022 for £15 million, missed over a year following knee surgery last summer. Since his return, his performances have come under scrutiny.
Fans on social media have weighed in on Amorim’s decision. One commented, “Malacia not in the matchday squad today, and it’s NOT due to injury. Twice subbed off at half-time, and dropped today despite being the only available natural LB. You just know he’s not cutting it under Ruben Amorim.” Another said, “He has not looked good in that LWB ever since returning. So it was expected.”
Other fans supported Amorim’s approach. One wrote, “To be fair, he’s been very poor since coming back. Really like that Amorim isn’t afraid to drop underperforming players,” while another added, “Love how ruthless Ruben is—finally a proper manager.”
The decision reflects Amorim’s no-nonsense management style, focusing on performance and accountability as he seeks to raise standards at Old Trafford.
