On Sunday afternoon, Chelsea had the chance to climb to the top of the Premier League with a win against Everton at Goodison Park. However, despite dominating possession with 75% and recording five shots on target, the London side failed to break the deadlock, resulting in a 0-0 draw.

Following the match, Chelsea fans have directed their frustration at an unexpected player, Cole Palmer, whom they hold responsible for the missed opportunity to secure three points. Many supporters voiced their dissatisfaction on social media, highlighting Palmer’s underwhelming performance.

One fan commented, “Palmer off it, not sure why he wasn’t subbed for Felix. Also, the energy was just not there.” Another added, “Could’ve sworn the best player in the league was playing against Everton today? Or maybe he’s just not as incredible as you think he is? Stop putting Palmer on a pedestal he has no business being on right now.”

A more critical reaction claimed, “Cole Palmer has been rubbish all season. Masked by penalties and the odd assist.” Another fan stated, “Palmer ain’t the same as he was last season idc if he’s still getting G/A, he’s no longer performing to that insane level he did last season.”

Palmer had an exceptional debut season at Stamford Bridge, scoring 27 goals and providing 15 assists in 48 appearances. This season, the 22-year-old has still managed to register 11 goals and six assists in 19 matches across all competitions. However, his recent performances have not lived up to the high expectations set by his debut campaign.

The result leaves Chelsea in second place, while Liverpool, with a game in hand, now have the opportunity to go four points clear at the top of the table. The Reds face Tottenham Hotspur in London as they aim to maintain their unbeaten away record heading into Christmas.
