Man United fans destroy player on social media after humiliating 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth

Although under a different manager after Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, Andoni Iraola’s side did a number on United yet again – with Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo all on target for the Cherries.

After a last-gasp win over rivals Manchester City a week ago, United were brought back down to earth with a 4-3 Carabao Cup quarter final loss to Spurs on Thursday and this latest loss showed just how much work there is to do.

There were plenty of below-par displays from players wearing red at Old Trafford but not for the first time, striker Joshua Zirkzee was given a pasting online.

The summer signing was blamed for allowing Huijsen to get a free header at the near post for the opener and was effectively a passenger in his 54 minutes on the pitch – before he was hooked for Rasmus Hojlund.

And yet again United fans were left questioning why they decided to pay £36 million for him in the summer.

One fumed: “Zirkzee is simply the worst ever. Can’t pass, can’t dribble, can’t shoot, can’t defend, sh*t*movement, lazy, slow, weak, loses the ball all the time, can’t head the ball despite being built like an NBA player.”

Another opined: “Zirkzee is unfortunately worse than the super washed version of Martial.”

A second said: “Zirkzee plays like he’s just woken up makes no sense.”

A fourth posted: “Zirkzee you are 6 foot 4 how can you not win a single aerial duel.”

A fifth wrote: “Zirkzee another dude whose bad games ABSOLUTELY REEK. F**ing hell he doesn’t look like a footballer.”

Zirkzee signed a five-year contract with United when they drafted him in from Bologna and has scored four goals in 24 games in all competitions.

He has already been heavily linked with a move back to Italy after struggling to adapt to the style of football in England
