Chelsea Make Enzo Maresca Sack Decision After Brighton Defeat
Chelsea have reportedly decided on Enzo Maresca’s future amid the team’s poor form.
On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League after losing to Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea led through Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the 24th minute, but things began to fall apart after Trevoh Chalobah was sent off with 53 minutes on the clock.
Brighton then came away 3-1 winners thanks to a brace from Danny Welbeck and a goal by Maxime De Cuyper.
The defeat means Chelsea are now eighth in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
As a result, Maresca’s men are now three without a win in the Premier League, after losing to Manchester United and drawing with Brentford recently.
Looking ahead, Blues boss Maresca is now under increasing pressure to turn things around, with fans beginning to vent their displeasure.
However, despite the poor form, Maresca reportedly retains the full support of the Chelsea board.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are not looking to assess Maresca’s performance until the end of the 25/26 season.
The report stated: “Maresca retains the backing of Behdad Eghbali (Co-controlling owner) and the sporting directors, who are not panicking over the team’s mini-slump.”
It has been suggested that the objective for Chelsea this season is to finish in the top four of the Premier League and have a decent run in cup competitions.
Maresca was under pressure during the 24/25 season after a dip in form, but Chelsea were rewarded with the Italian winning the Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking after the Brighton defeat, Maresca said: “It’s a tough one as we were in control of the game, we scored one and could’ve scored more.
“Everything was fine. Then, because of our mistake with the red card, the plan completely changed. So, for me, we played two games: the one in the first half and then, unfortunately, another after the red card.”
Chelsea are back in UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday night when they take on Benfica, led by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho, at Stamford Bridge.
