Report: Liverpool is preparing for a transfer meeting today as a ‘brilliant’ player approaches a potential move..
Monday could prove crucial for Liverpool’s transfer plans as the Reds are scheduled to meet regarding the ‘brilliant’ player.
Liverpool has a match against Newcastle arranged for bank holiday Monday, aiming to make a statement in the Premier League.
Even though the season has just begun, securing a victory at St James’ Park before next weekend’s encounter with Arsenal would provide a significant confidence boost.
Naturally, discussions leading up to the match have been heavily focused on Liverpool’s ongoing interest in Alexander Isak.
For some time, there has been a sense that Liverpool might place a bid for Isak once Monday’s match concludes. In this context, the August bank holiday is indeed a pivotal day in the Reds’ season.
Nonetheless, Isak’s potential transfer is not the only story unfolding during the closing days of the summer transfer window.
Having been excluded from both matchday squads this season, Kostas Tsimikas may be on the verge of leaving Anfield in the coming week.
According to reports from the Italian media, Monday is anticipated to be significant for this situation as well.
Liverpool is set to conduct a meeting regarding Kostas Tsimikas.
Following the arrival of Milos Kerkez at Liverpool, Tsimikas has become surplus to requirements under Arne Slot.
The Greek defender has been a reliable player since joining the club in 2020. Michael Owen even referred to Tsimikas as ‘brilliant‘ last season, but he now finds himself as the third-choice left-back behind Kerkez and Andy Robertson.
Last week’s reports indicated that Roma is interested in acquiring Tsimikas on loan, which would appear to be a favorable option for the 29-year-old.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla on his website Alfredopedulla.com, the Serie A club is expected to intensify their interest on Monday.
It is reported that Liverpool and Roma will meet to discuss the feasibility of a loan transfer to the Stadio Olimpico for Tsimikas.
Marseille is also reportedly interested in the Greek international, along with ‘a couple of other clubs.’
Tsimikas is expected to be excluded from the lineup against Newcastle.
Slot faces a decision regarding who will play left-back for Liverpool in the match against Newcastle.
Kerkez did not perform well on the opening day, leading the Liverpool head coach to possibly opt for the more experienced Robertson.
Regardless of who starts, the other player is likely to be on the bench, which means Tsimikas will probably not have a spot there.
Given that his future is uncertain in the coming week, it would be surprising to see the left-back included in the traveling squad for Monday night’s game.
Liverpool would ideally prefer a permanent sale, but a loan allowing Tsimikas to gain playing time may be the only viable option.
