Alexander Isak to Liverpool: Journalist reveals shocking update.

Liverpool is keen to acquire Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. Here’s the latest news – and it’s significant.

Throughout 2025, Liverpool has prioritized Alexander Isak as their main transfer target.

In reality, he has been on their radar for several years, but this summer seems like the perfect opportunity.

Isak has been outstanding for Newcastle United. He was undoubtedly the leading striker in the Premier League last season – a remarkable feat considering Erling Haaland’s presence in the league.

That’s just how exceptional Isak was. He played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s successful UEFA Champions League campaign, netting 23 goals throughout the season.

Liverpool is determined to sign him and is prepared to shatter the British transfer record to make it happen. They submitted their first formal offer a week ago, which the Magpies turned down.

They are not ready to concede in their efforts to keep the striker. There is also optimism about securing a top-tier replacement, although that plan faced a significant setback this week.

Benjamin Sesko, their primary target, chose Manchester United for reasons that remain unclear.

This leaves Newcastle in a difficult position, seemingly unable to identify a player who would facilitate Isak’s departure.

Newcastle’s stance on Alexander Isak

Journalist Ben Jacobs insists that Newcastle’s position is not that they must find a replacement for Isak before selling him, but rather that they still hope to extend his contract. Therefore, the failure to sign Sesko does not impact a potential sale to Liverpool.

“Understand that Newcastle’s inability to sign Benjamin Sesko does not influence the Alexander Isak situation,” Jacobs stated on Twitter. “Newcastle has other forwards in consideration.

“And NUFC’s sentiment remains that Isak must either be sold or extend his contract, with no compromise. So far, Isak has shown no inclination to do the latter.

“Liverpool is prepared to make another bid if they receive encouragement.

This is truly a shocking update. Currently, the likelihood of Isak renewing his contract seems almost nonexistent unless Newcastle makes a substantial alteration to their wage structure with a competitive offer.

If he chooses not to extend his contract, he will be leaving – and it appears that Liverpool is the destination. If Jacobs’ information is accurate, it’s just a matter of time before this happens.

Essentially, Isak has the option of two clubs. All indications suggest that he prefers Liverpool.

Provided the Reds remain patient and do not pursue other targets, they should successfully secure his signing.
