Liverpool NewsDONE DEAL :Liverpool agrees to sign striker from English team as medical Booked…
Liverpool has reached an agreement to sign a striker from an English team, with a medical appointment scheduled.
Liverpool has finalized a deal to acquire 17-year-old Will Wright, a striker from Salford City, who is set to undergo a medical examination prior to his transfer after opting against a move to Arsenal.
Liverpool has come to terms with Salford City for the signing of Will Wright. The personal terms for the 17-year-old English striker to join #LFC from #SalfordCity are also confirmed, and the medical is currently in progress. Arsenal had a deal in place between clubs, but the player chose not to proceed.
Liverpool has secured a transfer agreement for 17-year-old forward Will Wright from Salford City, who is preparing for a medical check-up ahead of his move to Merseyside.
Arsenal was also interested in the player, who has consistently been a top scorer during his teenage years, but Wright opted to stay in the North West and was swayed by Liverpool’s proposal. The deal is believed to be valued at approximately $266k (£200k) initially, with potential add-ons.
Upon his arrival in Kirkby, Wright will join Liverpool’s U21s team, which will be managed by former Wales coach Rob Page for the upcoming 2025/26 season, following his appointment this summer to replace Barry Lewtas.
It is reported that despite Arsenal offering a higher transfer fee and salary, Liverpool has become the preferred choice for the player, who feels it is the right moment to advance his career.
Wright made his debut for Salford City in January during an FA Cup match against Manchester City and has also participated in two senior league games for the club.
This summer has seen significant changes at Liverpool’s youth level. Simon Wiles is expected to take over as U18s manager, succeeding Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, while Page has already been confirmed as the U21s coach.
Rob brings extensive playing and coaching experience to a crucial position as young talents aim to transition from academy prospects to first-team players,” stated academy director Alex Inglethorpe.
“His recent successes in leading Wales to the last 16 at Euro 2020 and qualifying for the 2022 World Cup are a testament to his capabilities.
However, the efforts that occurred during his leadership of the national team may not have received as much recognition, yet they resulted in many pathway players advancing to the senior squad.
“We have witnessed this directly at Liverpool, where numerous academy players have achieved notable success on the international level under Rob’s mentorship.”
