Fed Up Liverpool Fans Demand Player is Sold ASAP Despite 3-1 Win vs Yokohama FM

In Liverpool’s third match of pre-season, the Reds managed to secure a 3-1 victory against Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos – but, regardless of the result, the Anfield faithful are imploring boss Arne Slot to offload one player this summer.

Slot – widely regarded as one of the best managers in world football – and his entourage will be pleased with the result, of course, but there are still obvious reinforcements to be made if they are to win the Premier League title at a canter again.

Florian Wirtz, inspiring a comeback from 1-0 down, got on the scoresheet in the 62nd minute; Hugo Ekitike led the line for the first time and, once again, plenty of players got minutes in their legs. However, Liverpool fans are less than pleased with one player.

Liverpool Fans Losing Patience with One Star

As the reigning Premier League champions gear up for another domestic season, every minute of every pre-season is important – and, like the majority of managers, Slot is looking to give each player a chance to prove themselves. That’s why an out-of-sorts Darwin Nunez replaced Ekitike at the half-time interval.

Under Slot, the Uruguayan – a signing in which Liverpool and former boss Jurgen Klopp disagreed over – has struggled to assert himself as the club’s regular striker. Ekitike’s summer arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt could confuse his matters even further.

Despite costing the Merseyside outfit a then-club-record £85 million, there are a collection of fans who are starting to lose patience with the centre-forward, who has scored 40 goals and notched 26 assists in 143 appearances for the Reds.

A clip has emerged from Liverpool’s pre-season against Yokohama F. Marinos: Mohamed Salah played the perfect ball into the box, Nunez made a run beyond the defence but his decision to use his right foot, instead of his left, has irked the Liverpool fanbase. “Just rip his contract up,” one complained.

A second supporter said: “I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a footballer like Nunez. The day he leaves Liverpool will be one of the happiest days of my life.” “No matter how many goals he scores in pre-season, or how sharp he looks, Nunez needs to leave the team. He’s just not good enough to play for Liverpool,” another fan said as another added that signing Alexander Isak is a certain priority.

“Anyone that thinks Nunez deserves another season is either rage baiting or hasn’t watched the last three seasons. Nothing he has done makes him deserve it,” a fifth supporter said as a frustrated fan added, “This guy. Please leave my club.”

Regarding the above chance, a member of the Anfield faithful labelled him ‘awful’ given the amount of space he was afforded by his opponents. They wrote, “He’s so bad, man! Awful striker… all the space, zero pressure and still manages to miss by some distance.”

In 2024/25, the Artigas-born striker – who was linked with moves to clubs all round Europe pre-Anfield – plundered 14 goal involvements (seven goals and assists apiece) in 47 outings. However, that equated to just 1,118 minutes on the pitch.
