Manchester United is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Valencia’s promising talent, Javi Guerra

Manchester United appear to be closing in on the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Javi Guerra from Valencia, as they aim to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Multiple sources, including FootballTransfers and Sports Mole, have reported that the Red Devils are pushing hard to secure the Spaniard, whose contract includes a hefty €100 million release clause. However, financial constraints at Valencia could force them to accept an offer closer to €24–30 million.
Italian outlet Calciomercato also suggests United are nearing a breakthrough, and Guerra, who has racked up over 80 La Liga appearances, is seen as an ideal long-term addition under new manager Rúben Amorim. Known for his defensive discipline, energy, and ability to control games from deep, Guerra would bring a youthful spark to a midfield that may soon see veterans like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen phased out.
Despite Valencia’s earlier insistence that Guerra was not for sale, recent reports hint that the club may now be open to negotiations due to financial limitations. United and Arsenal are reportedly tracking the Spain U21 international closely, with AC Milan and Atlético Madrid also said to be in the mix. Yet, Manchester United seem to be leading the race.
At the moment, neither club has issued a formal statement, and official talks have not been confirmed. But if completed, this would be one of United’s first major signings of the summer transfer window. Updates regarding personal terms and medicals could follow in the coming days.
In addition to Guerra, United are pursuing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, as the club looks to continue its rebuild with signings like Matheus Cunha, Diego León, and Enzo Kana-Biyik already secured. With preseason preparations underway and matches scheduled in Sweden and the U.S., the squad is gearing up for a busy lead-up to the Premier League season opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17.
Guerra, full name Javier Guerra Moreno, has earned praise for his composure, stamina, and long-range passing. Although his release clause is sky-high, Valencia’s current financial condition could mean a more affordable deal is within reach—if Manchester United choose to act swiftly.
