Liverpool Transfer News: Hugo Ekitike Deal Gains Momentum, Darwin Nunez to Napoli Talks Resume

Liverpool’s summer transfer plans are heating up, with Fabrizio Romano sharing exciting updates on the club’s top targets, including French striker Hugo Ekitike and out-of-favor forward Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool Eyes €100m Hugo Ekitike Transfer

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are actively working on a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 22-year-old striker had a standout season in the Bundesliga and is now one of the Reds’ top attacking targets.

> “Liverpool are discussing the possibility of adding Hugo Ekitike to their squad,” Romano revealed. “They want another striker, and Ekitike is high on their list.”

Ekitike, who scored 19 goals and provided 8 assists last season, fits Liverpool’s vision: young, talented, and already experienced at the top level.

While the deal is not close yet, Romano says that Liverpool remain strong contenders, especially if Darwin Nunez leaves the club this summer.

Darwin Nunez is now expected to leave Liverpool, with Napoli emerging as his preferred destination. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, though Napoli are trying to lower Liverpool’s reported asking price of €58 million (£50m).

Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter):

> “After selling Victor Osimhen, Napoli will hold new talks for Darwin Nunez. He is their top target, and he’s prioritizing a move to the Serie A side.”

If Liverpool can finalize Nunez’s exit, they will have the funds to pursue a big-money move for Ekitike, whose price tag is around €100 million (£86m).

Eintracht Frankfurt Open to Ekitike Sale

Despite qualifying for the Champions League, Frankfurt are open to selling Ekitike—if their price is met.

Club CEO Markus Krosche told Sport1:

> “Hugo is an exceptional player and has developed fast. If a player grows beyond the club, we are ready to let him go.”

Liverpool journalist Lewis Steele also confirmed that Ekitike is the striker Liverpool are “most interested in” this summer.
