Liverpool may consider selling their £37.5 million forward if Alexander Isak’s potential transfer is confirmed, following reports of a ‘verbal commitment.’
The possibility of Liverpool selling their £37.5 million forward increases if Alexander Isak’s transfer is solidified, as claims of a ‘verbal commitment’ have emerged.
Liverpool’s decision to sell their £37.5 million forward could hinge on the confirmation of Alexander Isak’s transfer, following claims of a ‘verbal commitment.’
Liverpool may consider selling Luis Diaz for £37.5 million if they successfully acquire Alexander Isak, following reports from Spain suggesting that the Newcastle United striker has a “verbal commitment” with his current club.
Sources have also shared insights with TEAMtalk regarding Newcastle’s actual position on the Swedish forward.
Luis Diaz has emerged as one of Liverpool’s standout signings in recent years, with the £37.5 million fee paid to FC Porto in January 2022 proving to be a wise investment.
Known for his speed and dynamism, the Colombian winger has made a significant impact, netting 37 goals and providing 16 assists in 133 appearances for the club.
Although primarily a winger, Diaz has also taken on the role of centre-forward 11 times this season under Arne Slot.
He has contributed 12 goals and three assists in 34 matches across all competitions this term, with his most recent goal coming against Wolves at Anfield in the Premier League.
According to Sport, despite Diaz’s strong performances, Liverpool could opt to sell him at the end of the season if they manage to secure Isak from Newcastle.
Barcelona is reportedly interested in acquiring the Colombian, who is said to have a strong desire to join the LaLiga side.
The report highlights Liverpool’s interest in Isak and indicates that if they can finalize a deal with Newcastle, they may allow Diaz to depart.
Sport also mentions that Isak has received a “verbal commitment” from Newcastle to consider selling him in the summer transfer window for offers exceeding €100 million (£83.3 million / £105 million).
Isak is reportedly eager to advance his career, with clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool showing interest.
Barcelona has shown interest in Isak; however, the Spanish club is unable to meet Newcastle’s asking price.
The situation regarding Luis Diaz and Alexander Isak has come to light. While Sport is a credible source, it is important to recognize that it is a Spain-based publication that tends to present stories from Barcelona’s perspective.
At TEAMtalk, we acknowledge that both Diaz and Isak may remain with their current teams.
According to TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent Ben Jacobs, Liverpool is eager to secure a new contract for Diaz.
There is indeed interest from Barcelona and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but Liverpool is actively negotiating with the winger to extend his contract at Anfield.
Additionally, TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher has reported that Liverpool is also interested in Isak.
It is understood that the Newcastle striker is keen on a move to Anfield as well.
However, Newcastle is not inclined to sell the striker and intends to discuss a new contract with him during the summer.
In other Liverpool news, the club is facing competition from Real Madrid for Ajax talent Jorrel Hato.
TEAMtalk has learned that Liverpool is interested in acquiring Hato in the summer of 2025 and even considered making a late bid during the winter transfer window.
However, a report from Spain indicates that Madrid is preparing a €40 million (£33.3 million / $42 million) offer, including bonuses, to secure his transfer this summer.
The Spanish champions are so determined to sign Hato, who can play both center-back and left-back, that they are willing to include a player in the deal to make it more appealing.
In addition to Diaz, Liverpool may also part ways with Caoimhin Kelleher at the end of the season.
TEAMtalk understands that Newcastle is interested in acquiring the Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.
Kelleher is prepared to leave Liverpool
at the season’s conclusion, fully aware that he is unlikely to become the first-choice goalkeeper at the club.
